try both out. Mudbox is owned by autodesk so be prepared to pay for upgrades, I purchased zbrush at launch and haven't had to pay for an upgrade yet. -

I wish they'd stop moving everything around. I also wish Autodesk would fix the UV editor. Neither of these things are likely to happen. -

Just to add to this thread.. according to a user on the Autodesk Area, Mudbox does not work with Surface Pro, at all. Probably no support for Intel HD* graphics hardware. :/ -

You can get 3DS Max and Maya and any Autodesk program for free with a student email address. You can get Houdini for free also. -

i suppose side by side, there is possibilities to generate cameras from photos this is usually done from multible photos for 3d reconstruction ala autodesk 123d, -

try deletling you .ini file C : \ Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Autodesk\3dsMax\2014 - 64bit\enu\3dsmax.ini (assuming win7 /8) -
