Really try to think about where the dirt,rust,grunge will be built up, reference or looking at AAA games that have similar scenes will help. Sometimes less is a better thing.
Sett, Wideload games is doing that with that STubbs zombie game. They only have 5-6 people in house, the main leads and everything is farmed out. They are making a AAA title with this method.

It looks like all the environments and characters were made to portfolio quality polish. It's not very often I have see that kind of quality and polish in a AAA title. Great work!
I'm confused by that part, what do you consider highly polished graphics? If you're talking AAA stuff, art can be good without normal maps and fancy shaders.
i will be uploading this as a tutorial tomorrow (running length is about 1hr 10) i know its not a AAA piece of work. but i filmed a video tut of how i textured it.....
I think a separation will happen. AAA titles is what they want to say for this conglomeration. However, there will be plenty of opportunity from education games, to webased ones for indies. Much like Hollywood.
