It kinda amazes me that at the introduction of PBR, we knew there are a lot of specular problems, but quickly fell back to eh, it's good enough. Things like like apparent roughness getting mipped away when normal maps mip down to blurrier and smoothed over approximations of surfaces. Really apparent on landscapes, where…
Nice work Fabi_G, finished quickly too. Any plans to tackle one of the other concepts? I'm looking forward to see if anyone tackles the hard surface environment especially, looks like a good one for utilizing trim sheets / tiling textures.
If you decide to go with Blender and follow Pior's tips then I'd recommend looking into his method based on curves (the fleshy pinkish colored tubes on the right) but instead of the bezier curves chosen in the video check out what Blender calls a poly curve. It doesn't come with handles to control the curvature, instead…
Yes! I fell in love with it when I saw it in the quickpipe thread here, but it's only scripted for Maya. Someone mentioned that he'd developed a prototype for max, but put it on the backburner.... Really dreaming for something like this for 3DS.
@Tzur_H I recorded a short video here: https://streamable.com/jxnqx I am using a script called quickpipe to make the edge into a cylinder. There might be a better way to do it but thats the one I used
[ame] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkNNvemdXBI[/ame] Apparently there's a "Scripting" Tab now too. Edit: More info, render-related changes in 901. http://www.fxguide.com/quicktakes/modo-901-exclusive-tech-sneak-peek/
that's more like a ten or twenty year goal, really. for basic intro to the major modeling apps I think pluralsight still reigns supreme. they may still have a 30 day free trial. they'll have entire project based tutorial that crash course through major features of blender and so on. In three weeks you could run through a…
@Fabi_G I worried about that as well later into designing it honestly. An idea I had that might work for it is that it could use the opening and closing of the mouths across the back of its neck to aid in bending it, opening them and shifting them left or right similar to how we shift our jaws to allow freedom of movement…
This purchase was a no brainer for me. Just played around with it, its already so helpful. Cant wait for the 1.0. Quickpipe update was great, cant imagine how good this will be. Only issue I had was setting up hotkeys, or buttons. Edit: addressed :D
