alright - finished the lowpoly it's around 3900 tris and therefore a little more than I actually planned... quite a lot are spent at the head - though I'm not sure which loops I should get rid of to keep a good animateable mouth -

Hey thanks wallasaurus for pointing me in the right direction. I found this shader online. http://highend3d.com/3dsmax/downloads/shaders/DirectX-9-Shader-3948.html The alpha maps didn't work with it so I ended up e-mailing the guy about it and he fixed it so alpha maps work. So now Im set. Heres the results. -

Gobee it really depends what industry you want to work in. If it games and you do environments props or characters, screenshots are the way to go. Still images give all the information needed. Below the animation slider/scrub are four value fields (two on each side). One on each side is to set the playback range (mouseover and it'll tell you) - so you can just have it loop the animation from 1 to 399 -
