I don't know if this constitutes spam or is in the wrong category but I wrote some things that maybe someone might be interested in If you've got anything less powerful than an RX 570, Substance Painter is a massive pain to work with on any resolution over 1024 x 1024. Not pinning any blame on the Allegorithmic team, I…
Keep working on ZBrush. More and more of our big clients (think EA, Ubi, etc) are moving towards more ZBrush in their env art asset creation pipeline. The goal is: more baked details - Zbrush offers often better quality than just doing it in crazybump, plus it's often faster than hi-poly modelling everything.
You could possibly reduce the polycount, but it really depends on what game this is made for, and in what context. The grunge seems pretty decent to me, but the spec could be alot better. If this was going to be re-used alot, I would say don't make it super grunged, because it makes it even more obvious that it's reused.…
ajr2764: Yeah, i really wanted to add some organic work to my portfolio. I plan on creating more Env with my temple theme/set. Since all the models were built in a modular form. I'm using 3Ds Max 2010 right now for my modeling app. SouthpawSid: Thanks man, stay tuned for updates :P :)
For a junior env artist, your work is very solid...good job puttin that together! I think you should show wireframe and texture sheets for all of your entries. Some of them have the wireframe shot but not sheets and some have sheets but not wireframes. Your strongest prop is that gunwalker so I would have the wireframe and…
no i wasnt talking polys... with a load of plants in the env i would not want to make half the screen multiple alpha passes...polys are the way to go imo... by heavy i was meaning they looked too beefy... too strong... glass houses, habitat domes are nice and light in construction giving them that ethereal quality that i…
I've been bouncing back and fourth on this and might be pulling the trigger soon (jobless bum atm). Here is the list I compiled last December based on what I use daily: Media Encoder - https://www.shutterencoder.com/ Acrobat Pro - https://www.pdfgear.com/pdfgear-for-windows/ Premire -…
tricks and techniques that allow you add layers of detail will help. Uniquely hand texturing every inch of an env is time consuming and inefficient, having a smaller set of resources that you use to build up the pieces is the basic idea, you just get more assets for the time and effort. Whole envs can be made with not that…
For those interested that haven't seen it or do not know about Steve from g.n. "an interview to more steam things". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NSjvJDe6Ic I myself am not interested in these techs, seems strange to want to live in a "digital world", i can see some appeal but in the end its still fake, entertainment is…
Env: Yes, my textures are a bit off scale. I'll get to that soon enough and post a update. Think I understand what you mean about the roof. (on my to do list) :) Char: I have changed the size of the feet. Will post a update as soon as i fix some stretching issues i have with the lower leg armor plate. Thanks for your advice
