I believe the "Line" your speaking of in reality is due to rendering. What that is most likely is you deleted a selection with a thin edge hidden in between resulting in there being to vertices not connected to the mesh. sweep line intersections has anyone got experience ?
I've been playing around with various sweepline algorithms for finding 2d polygon intersections, and everyone I've tried has missed an intersection or two/three/four.... but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason (not that i've found to date) as to why e.g. ..... is it an elegant but ultimately failed solution ?… -

Just my initial thoughts- Try different relaxing methods if your software supports it. Try having the middle seam be a straight line on the UVs and see if you like that look, Like do a sphere projection for the top and a cylinder for a bottom and try to line up the seams and merge them. -

Creasing Issue on Cut Line (Maya)
I want to have sharp corners on the cut line while the model maintains it's round shape. Support loops make them sharp, but there's bad smoothing around the whole model (top middle). Googling around I think part of the issue is not enough geo so I smoothed the model and tweaked some of the verts back into a linear shape… -

marmoset AO white edge lines
so i just baked my textures out for substance and everyone was great as usual, except for one the AO map, for some reason i dont know there is white lines on my AO from the mesh edges, the smoothing groups are fine as all the other bakes worked great, ive never seen this issue on an AO before AO OFF AO ON
