You can always try the softimage free trial from autodesk, it works well but I haven't used other reduction tools. -

i agree. Autodesk needs to stop annual releases. Everything after 2011 is way too slow and unstable for me (especially 2013). -

Plus, they are also synced via mikkt tangent space, as is, thankfully, finally becoming consistent across MOST applications (autodesk take note) -

Hey, thanks for all the help. Yes Xoliul, it was the sampler. Specified the type and wham!...works like a charm. Damn Autodesk for meddling with things :) -

@haiddasalami right, the last accessed folder. as far as i rememeber, this was the case in previous maya versions. no clue why autodesk broke this behaviour. -

i used a program called autodesk animator back in the day to make animations. that was the first art program i used, save mspaint. -
