Cool. I'd recommend starting with a layout phase to figure out where your camera is, composition and your story's flow. Just have the basic shapes of your environment in there with a sliced up character proxy and just the major light sources. I'd retopo it in ZBrush, myself. It's not particularly difficult. There's no point UVing your object if you're going to retopo it.
