i'm gonna also +1 to what racer said. I love gritty realistic shooters as much as the next guy but I want those crazy N64/ps1 platform/adventure games back. I feel like games these days are heading into more of a "simulation" type of deal.
For me it was this thing: I loved playing the original adventure for the atari 2600 (Did I just give away my age?) and thought someday I'll design dragons that don't look like ducks. Link to flash remake of the game if anyone is interested: http://www.simmphonic.com/programming/flash.htm#
now the message in the source is <!-- February 29, 2012 --> <!-- Shadowy Figure- Raise Dead : Infinity Engine --> <!-- Take heart fellow adventurers, for you have curried the favor of Boo, the only miniature giant space hamster in the Realm! --> and this at the bottom <!-- I can teach you how to use your wrath. -->
it means that games will share the same elements but in very different quantities, such as GTA having a few rpg elements, but not even near as much as skyrim, so we go into detail in genre descriptions to differtiate them better, or we'll end up like calling them all "ADVENTURE/ACTION GAMES"
1. Mass Effect 2 2. Dark Souls 3. Tales of Symphonia 4. WoW 5. Skyrim 6. Divinty Original Sin The others are probably more like action adventures or something: 7. Dishonored 8. GTA 4 9. Batman Arkham City 10. Darksiders

Hm, just noticed the last line in the post: Adventures are coming like mad. Of course there were Runaway, Tony Tough and Wanted but the Clever & Smart game is said to be really good as well. The Sam & Max team formed their own studio after Lucas Arts shut down Freelance Police.

Damn, never knew him as a comedian I do remember seeing him in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and loved his performance. That makes me feel sad, especially after seeing the you tube link here, he was a really funny guy, rest in peace Mr. Carlin.
