Generally, I believe you'd create a texture map with various elements such as walls, beams, windows, etc. Then reuse them all across the structure. For example, instead of giving every wall it's own texture space, you would create a single wall element in your texture and map every wall with the same appearance to that one… -

Personally I agree with the spikier (is that a word? if not, I shall proclaim it one!) design elements. Personally I'm glad to see you throwing in some new design elements as a more masculine version of Samus's exact suit would just be a bland rehash. I would suggest a blockout of the entire scene to get proper scale and composition down before doing anything else. break it apart into modular elements and then focus on making what you need. starting doing highpoly right away will probably come back to bite you in the ass when things arnt lining up properly or the scene…
