It doesn't work cause you can't use "-pivot 0 0 0" as a string. You have to use floats or int for "0 0 0". It's a bit tricky cause you will need those floats only in origin mode. Maybe you will have to make specific rotate commands for each case. -

nah, but id float it on the wall, keeping walls at 2 tris... good luck with this, looks good so far! as far as your metal linings, id do the same (float them) but not decal them, they have too much form for decal imo (but im not the most qualified to say!) -

Well got a bunch more done on it. Some of the geometry didnt import right. Just wanted to put this up so you guys could see what I got so far. Quick question. Is there a way to make vray "Ignore" the floating geometry, so it wont cast a shadow on the geometry it is floating over? -

If not enuff memory and If deleting all history anyway... How about transfering the pnt animation to a duplicate? if yes save following code as cly_bakeVtxDuplicateTransfer.mel select poly object and execute like: cly_bakeVtxDuplicateTransfer 1 substituting 1 for the desired step increment for keys ( integer fer now ) //… -

There's some things that are easier to keep at separate objects in order to save polygons, stuff like nuts or bolts, but that center piece doesn't seem like something you should float. Floating parts can waste more uv space, and can cause some lighting issues. Most times UV space > triangles saved. -

After spending a day and a half, I got it figured out. I'm pretty sure it has to do with tabbed view vs. floating windows. I normally work with floating documents, but I saw on another guys PC, that he was using tabs, and his stuff was working fine. After I switch my layout to that, it works.... -

@Burpee Floating geometry is geometry you place on top of other geometry, floating on top. An example of that are the nuts and bolts and some of the insets he has in his geometry. It saves a lot of time as you don't have to model it into your high poly and you can then bake it onto your low poly to almost the same effect… -

I thought I should give this a go to work on my sub-d modeling skills sub-surface model with floating geometry without floating geometry baked low-poly Wires some of these shapes ended up being a lot more difficult than i first thought i think i learnt a bit from this -

Great progress! This is looking really crisp and clean. I'd echo what Faf mentioned. The details are a little noisy. I think especially the center/floating bit is hard to read visually. If you could make the floating part pop a bit more it would help a lot. Maybe with some smoke or magic glow coming out of the crater?
