The problem that I have with the default round is that the hardness of it isn't linear. If you set it to around 95% hardness (e.g.) it will still be pretty soft. Take it into zbrush and beat it up a bit, chips on the blade, emphasize some areas with stronger wood grain and chipping on the handle. You just need to use file output node in compositor pane. And what they called render layers is now View layers I believe.
