Been in the process of working on an exterior forest environment based on the blockout posted above, and wanted to get back into weapon making for a bit. Made an Axe for the main villain, Morganne The Witch, that's placed outside her mansion near the shack as an ominous warning.
Great start! Get those grooves of the axe really deep. Try to get some of the parts really flat and clean so whne you add the imperfections and scratches it won't be too noisy EDIT: Sorry, meant the grip part for the grooves!
@ThunderClouds I like your light-armored reaper, really got some classic shape of shape like in the the golden axe. What do you think on my thing, I think I did not capture some blizzard felling.
I don't think you can, even though it kinda tells you you selected two axes for snapping, everything still snap on all three, I think we just have to live with snapping first on X then on Y. :(
Yeah, the ability to directly manipulate mesh components - verts, edges etc. - along specific axes is kinda necessary for the tools to work. Until they can solve that, it'll still feel like you're working while wearing a 1-fingered glove.
It sounds like the fools who pushed unrealistic sales goals are keeping their jobs while the people who created probably one of the most underrated games of the last few years in Hitman are getting the axe. I hope everyone lands on their feet.
You can't just swap axes, you'll need to do a matrix transform on everything (I write this sort of thing when required and then forget everything I know but I'm sure someone will be able to point you at an appropriate maths link..
hmmm, just a random thought from a modelling noob: did you check your normals? It might be that the textures aren't actually warped but rather illuminated the wrong way. The edge of the axe looks a bit like it recieves a highlight it shouldn't get.
That looks really awesome man, the only comment I have is that the swinging of the melee weapons takes too long, and alot of those weapons you would swing like a baseball bat as compared to the axe chopping wood motion that you use.
ok, cool. so thats how you lock it. but how do you get it back to being relevant to the view angle? like in the first example. ctrl+middle clicking changes the axes that its locked to, i cant get it back.
