Alright, so I've gotten the Crown Victoria Blueprints and watched more tutorials. However, I think I learned more by hand drawing topology as Paololazatin suggested. Can anyone comment if I'm on the right path? I've also taken into consideration about using quads over triangles. Here's the unaltered image.
In that ref image you showed, the text and crown has a large chamfer but your text doesn't. A large chamfer will read so much better in the bake aswell. Also the black base of the postbox is quite bumpy, consider doing that in PS in the normal map. Or in zbrush. I would add some geometry for the placard and dropbox.
eld: that's terrifying stinger: bah! the video cut off! I want to know about the crown court... google it is, to learning i go. Has there been any rain in London yet (maybe silly question?)? I know the Cincinnati Riots of 2001 (started by similar events) were helped to stop by rain... well rain and a curfew.
You should also add some crown molding or something to ease the harsh transition from the wall to the ceiling. Lighting is very gamey, and has very low contrast. One suggestion would be to reduce ambient light and emphasize the light around the lamp and the light coming in the window, everything feels very evenly lit right…
Hey, I live in Australia. w00t. If I can get to Melbourne I would love to hit the pubs or crown with you guys, but I have some pretty hard pilot exams on at about that time, so it might not work. I also do not have a house. Lol, I live in Tamworth most of the time..
Hey guys thought I would post a quick update before work... "want to buy more time" to work on this thing :( added some detail to the helm (i wanted it to be a twisted metal crown like thing, but this reminds me more of ivory) and also shaped and added detail to the feet (think the back claws are off a bit :( )
Rather than trying to replicate the spline trick in Maya, make use of one of its own features. Paint Effects should get you some nice 2d flats with perfect alpha built-in, so experiment with that. Matroskin, great post. Vig, watch out! Someone's gunning for your "elaborate tutorial with illustrations" crown.
Did a quick item based of a concept by DoubleLeaf. I really like making items for different heroes, its always fun to learn how they were built and modeled and textured. So I present to you, the Scintillant Crown http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=205321155 Always down for collaboration and especially…
And do you really need to have each coin to have its own geometry? I would think that for the majority of shots you'd be able to get by with a simple repeating pattern (the same way you'd do any other repeating pattern in zbrush), a displacement map, and the occasional insert object for things like goblets and crowns to…
I love how the column looks except for the pedestal and crown details. The knotwork is really nice, but with as weathered as the rest of the column is the pristine-ness of those intricate designs feels very strange to me. Lines would fuzz, pieces would chip away, and especially on the bottom where people can rub against it…
