sucks that they put the quicktime event buttons like on the top of the screen, makes me focus on that part instead of the action. why not put the buttons where stuff is gonna happen? like, around the head before you decapetate somebody.. very shitty design choise.. but then again, gemedesigners are worthless at everything…
I think there is a certain level of objectivity to art and its qualities end up with more accepted norms the more niche it becomes. So "game art" would have a degree of functionality/noise/conveying of message. But thats obvious right? I play games which are bad and im able to view them as such and still enjoy them, it…
It's very much like with the art side of games, everyone improves by daily practice as well as heavy trial and error. The game-design position is a very hard to get to position as there are so few ones in the industry compared to something like an environmental artist, and nearly always are the ones that are hired the ones…
Someone wanting to skip a part of a game doesn't necessarily mean that this player wants to blindly rush through the game. It simply means that for whatever reason, a given part of the game might not be to this player liking. (there could be multiple reasons for this - a drop in quality ; bad writing ; bad gamedesign ;…
It's not up to the "industry 3" to innovate, they are console developers first and foremost. The metroidvania genre has been done and improved on ever since super metroid, mario 64 was a great game when it came out, but we've had many fantastic 3d platformers since then, including psychonauts. People are also quick to hate…
Hello guys,I'm about to move to Halifax in Canada and i wanted to know if there is a good university in Halifax or nearby to study Gamedesig/Computer science I'm willing to drive one or two hours to the university if needed. It should be on the level of something like the SCAD in Savannah(i've heard that its really good).…
How did you feel about the deadline? It is basically 3 Jobs. designing and modeling, posing texturing for a humanoid plus a hardsurface transport device. Add A programmer and we could make a indigame? Well without gamedesign, haha. I could not finish that in time jet. But Did a August PC-Character CHangle and started…
Ok I am very much confused by that game. I watched some of it online ... also saw someone playing it around the 10 hours mark, and played it myself a little bit. It ... really sucks, right? I mean letting fanboyism aside and all that. It just feels like a very broken game... I wonder what the public reaction would have…
from personal experience I would say think of "rough concept" ie gameplay first. think of mockup screens, maybe even videos then try to get that ground gameplay going first as some prototype. If you are into gamemaking not "tech making" then use some engine around (plenty of indie engines), otherwise you will loose too…
the thing is you dont develop a charcter in a game like you do in a movie.. you dont tell a story the same way.. you are talking about apples and oranges.. you dont play a game for 2 hours and feel satisfied when it is over.. that is where every bit of hollywoods "magic" comes from. they found ways to develop a character…
