I attempted to play this but was repeatedly kicked from playing any games because I wasn't an elite DOTA player.

I understand your anger ceebee, trust me. I'm not an elite DotA player by any means either. I quit for a while too because the public games were retarded, as you alluded to. Everyone expects you to be an expert the moment you pick up the game. There's a high learning curve with little grace from other players. So I stopped playing pubs and just play with friends. They are good players but they allow me to tag along sometimes. It's still a fun game if you take away the assholes. I think hero's of newerth will help merge the gap between the pro's and noobs.

been playing this a bit thanks to stradigos's beta giveaway.

I'm a noob too and haven't had too much problem. There's a search filter you can enabled that directs you only to "newbie" games. It's worked pretty good for me so far.

*Update* All the keys have been givin away, I'll let you guys know if i get any more. Sorry to those who didn't get one, but there should be people out there with keys, just ask around! (i'd suggest maybe asking people in War 3 dota matches)

Got a couple keys myself now, send me a message if you want to try the game out. Make sure you include your email so i can give you the invite.

Gotta warn you though if you don't have DOTA experience you're just going to get your $#!% pushed in.
