Well it looks like I'm going to enter with polycount.

I'm doing a machine scout, which is basically a cyborg ratty.

Here is what I've got so far. the top is my first attempt, the brown parts below is my second, the bluer parts on the left is my current attempt.

The fusion cell on his back is pretty cool. you know the same glowing effect on the segments of the tail could appear cool.

Definitely a fresh idea. I think the only thing is that it might be too normal of a rat. Not that it's a bad thing, I can understand why you would want to go that route, but I think you could push it a bit more with a little bit of style since it's fused with a machine, they might have added certain things or adapted certain things to make him be able to preform his scout jobs better

evil stuff man, this brings up some horrible memorys of animal tests I once had to see in a brochoure... Nasty Idea but maybe look up some of that stuff on the web...

to the back: maybe try letting an artifical tail run up to the spline with some spikes ?!

So i've made an attempt to un normalize the form, and i've added wheels..on her forearms and under belly... so when he needs to travel she uses her legs to push the wheel down and she can drive...

i'll either have to remove the cell or place it else where...

hope to get to the tail tomorrow...and maybe start modelling eventually

very interesting idea, just an idea, maybe add some sort of explosive glowy bit on him so if he is compromised he can detonate, or for interesting assasinations.

Just an idae, maybe try scale him up. Turn it into a giant rat and give it larger more defined muscles and try and get a sense of large scale into it. What you have now looks like a rodent with techy bits on it. Maybe go for a monster rodent :P
