How would one approch this leather face-mask shape?

I've been trying at this shape for quite a while now, and I just can't get anything that satisfies me. I'm not quite sure how to approch this and get a good looking, good edgeflow result.

I need a leather-esque 'faceplate' (Similar to this, that conforms to the face more.) that is fixed to a cylinder in the center and wraps around the face with the outer edge.

Here is what I have right now.

It's full of smoothing errors, and has bad edge flow. The inner edge is fixed to the cylinder, while the outer edge wraps around the head. (Head isn't mine)

Can anyone provide suggestions/ideas on how to do this? End result needs to be a polymesh that isn't super high quality.
