hi guys,
I finally came around to kill my old portfolio and replace it the new one, some of you may know as the /folio07 page.
http://stephko.viranyi.de
I made a few updates though (its 2009 !), kicked some pieces, have the most recent and ongoing work ontop. I also posed the guard for example, made some usabilty features etc.
I appreciate your time viewing through my works and happy to correct all mistakes I made (may it be text, deadlinks or worse, a missed / unnamed copyright holder).
Sorry to all 56k users, and everybody who has troubles with the page.
Also, I still look for a job !!! Id be more than happy to be forwarded to the nearest suitable person !

Awesome work as usual Steph
I like the action shots of this guy with the blur added.
I like how everything fits in one big page.
Fantastic stuff.
I am sure you will be put to work soon.

Lots of really great characters with lots of character. Env. stuff looks solid as well.
What shader are you using to display this guy? The materials are great, the skin and leather really look like skin and leather... and the snozzberries really taste like snozzberries!
Minor comments and completely subjective im sure but overall a well executed folio. Nice stuff
Should get you a job to buy more beans and soup for your bunker, me just thinks
i love the space granny
Any chance you could post your textures? Even shrunk down, I'm just curious how you are tackling some things. Same goes with lighting/shaders.
best of luck in your job hunt!

Thanks, I hope the choice to make it a one pager was well received, although I think it still has usability problems

Thank you for you offer ! check your pm

Thanks. But i didnt work on auto assault I think you want to ask Renaud :P
ScoobyDoofus
Thank you too ! I guess I am just a bit picky and took some time to learn a few new tools and techniques.
FAT_CAP
Thanks! I use standard scanline with pretty much standard max Shaders. I do however use Specular, Glossines, Fresnel and reflection masked from the specular source.
frubes
thanks, yeah I got that comment about the frown from somebody else as well. For one part its a mistake of mine, for the other I try to use a avarage pose, which goes for wrinkles aswell, most of them dudes are EVIL
As for the ears. i worked with a character artist once who was obsessed by the bulgyness of ears and that many people make ears wrong in his oppinion. Maybe I took it too far with that but thanks for the heads up, i work on that.
*cough* officially its all artistic choice of course :P

Yeah the bunker of my mind, where I install big mounted machineguns shooting you with mental beans when we meet next time
modeling_man
Thanks aswell! absolutely, what textures and shader are you interested in?
I showed the guard texture once but i need to reup, so anything else I can include aswell, just let me know.
Again I appreciate you all took the time to look through the stuff. Also for the offers and help !
i am fan of many of the works I see on polycount and those who replied, great work everyone, rock on!
Did you work insite at Grin Barcelona or was it remote freelance work?
Minotaur0
I worked onsite at grin barca.
As the King Guard has been rigged to the most part I started animating that sucker..
I am aware he is still off in the cycle, but I have a hard time pointing my finger at it.. need some sleep and pointers

edit:
Okey tried embedding a vimeo video into the thread. is that still possible and how?
....some of the movement is hard to read from that angle...maybe add a bit more up down motion if you want it to be a bit more menacing/ convey more power.
Some tricks to improve the animation :
Blink your eyes fast when it's playing. It will smooth out the movement (brain filling in the gaps), and will give yo a taste of what it should look like. Then when you open your eyes again you will see all the flaws. (stupid but it works!!)
Remember that every part of the body in motion should follow an arc sometimes looping on itself in a circle, sometimes in a 8 path. At the moment the movements look very 'back and forth'-y.
Simplify your keys as much as possible. The feet hang still in the middle of your current cycle, giving away that you put two nearly identical keys side by side
Work at 24fps. This is easy to divide (12*2 6*4 3*8) as opposed to 30fps. Also you'll be able to work straight from animation textbooks with that traditional system.
Don't overanimate.
Good luck!
Your portfolio is of endless quality, where do you find the time to make all this work? If I had to criticize something, I'd say that the mega image dump on the home page is slow to load and kind of tedious to navigate. Perhaps you could organize your gallery a little better.
