Sketchbook: Nils Koster

I haven't posted anything in a loong time, but I've been wanting to make a sketchbook for a while. In general I just want to improve my artistic skills and there's so much good stuff in this section. I find it very inspiring. Good call polycount!!
Here goes.

Start off easy with some 60 seconds posemaniacs. There's room for improvemenet here.

Quick lion study today. It's almost like I only know how to draw quick and dirty. I've tried really focusing on one piece a few times, but it's like I lose spontaneity and it makes my work boring. Maybe it's because the only drawing classes I've ever had is life drawing and that's usually pretty fast paced. I'm just mumbling. I think I'll try and do something like wizo's tutorial soon. that seemed like a good approach.

some quick general thinking:

try to loosen your strokes a bit. Longer, less of them. And don't dig in the outlines so much so there is some play between the weight of the lines.

Give a lot more thought to gesture, thats why the first lion sketch is stronger than most of the others.

New one. I bought myself a bunch of markers and posca pens and tried it out today. I haven't really worked with poscas before, but I like it.
Anyone knows which DB character this is? I drew after a mini toy figure, but I don't know the name of the character.

Another one, not too happy with the shading. I had a few errors which were hard to undo.

Ok here's two more. Apparently if you don't pay your bills they shut down your webspace. Bastards! I'm starting over.
The first one I tried to do some sheets for a kawaii model. I wanted to do more cute things after coming home from Japan. They're not lining up perfectly, but hopefully I can get a nice model out of it. It's made with pens and markers. The other one is an old low spec model for the low poly thread.

looks ace, except im not too keen on that bulge in the tail, looks odd to me- what was your reasoning for making it like that?

Hi rooster. We're talking about the alien right? It's not adapted from the original. I wanted to add more volume. It seemed flat. Now I look at it the one on the furthest right does resemble the original more. Maybe I'll shave it off.
