Using Splines

Hey all, ive got a problem, im using splines to try and get a plane filled with holes but it just doesnt work out. i cant think of how to explain this properly so i got a screenshot:

sigh, remember having problems like this myself. i'm not sure, but it might have something to do with the ordering of things.
try attaching the circle grid to the surrounding shape.

If you're building the high poly model for normal mapping you can build the holes as seperate meshes and float them over the plane

Try dividing the edges of the square a bunch in Editable Spline, the new vertices should help it triangulate better.

no its not for normal mapping, and Eric, i tried dividing the square, still didnt work

i wanted to stay away from booleans coz they make a mess

Sometimes it takes just a subtle rearrangement of the sub-splines to make it work. Try adding an Edit Poly modifier on top of the Editable Spline, go back down to the spline to turn on Show End Result, then move around the sub-splines. Also, try decreasing the Interpolation amount?

Booleans, yes.
Pro Booleans not so much. With the Clean Vert script from James Haywood, it cuts the clean up time down to, just double checking.
