Futurama - Beast with a Billion Backs

Officially, it's not out until tomorrow (June 24). Anyone check it out yet? I loved it. I love Futurama so my opinion is biased, but I believe it was better than the first feature-length film they did, Bender's Big Score.

The first half of the movie, I had tears I was laughing so hard. It could have been the booze, though.

Was quite good. I'd say it's on par with Bender's Big Score.

funny, but overall less laughs than the average episode from the first 4 seasons. Better than Bender's Big score, but that's not saying much.

Im a big futurama fan but this one fell short, just seemed like a lot of it was how zaney could we show the future (which I know was part of the show before, but they seemed to try to hard on this one) and just a scattered plot.

I didn't mind big score, but this one I was just wanting it to end multiple times

Aw man, I was slightly disappointed with Bender's Big Score, haven't seen this one yet, but had hopes it was going to be better. I'll go by Adam's Booze Fuelled report and continue with my unaccounted for optimism!

Just watched it. It's not as good as the show was in it's hayday, but it was better than Bender's Big Score.

I really think they need to add DeathBall to American Gladiators!

Would make a good iPhone game that.

Enjoyed the movie(s), they do drag on a bit but I think the main purpose for that is they wanted each movie to work as a 4 part episode too. The gags are sprinkled a lot more lightly than the shows, but then a movie length animation with gags every 5 seconds can be tiresome also.

Still trying to make the connection between millions of benders and a gateway to heaven appearing.

i routinely rewatch the original 4 seasons... which was why i was so confused by benders big score. I found myself asking 'what happened?!', a lot of it translated into 'look at us, we're zany, no look more, im standing oddily waiting for congratulations'

Took me 3 attempts to watch it all even, i REALLY wanted to like it but it just felt like they had lost their pacing, perhaps going outside the normal episode running time has thrown them.

Can anyone say they felt the same about benders big score but loved a billion backs?

I laughed a bit, but the end especially was disappointing. Didn't feel like I had wasted my life watching it, so that's alright :P I still haven't seen Bender's Big Score.

I liked it

most of futurama has always been zany-silliness, so... basically what I expect, I liked it more than the last one though, feels less like a few 30 min episodes stuck together and more like a cohesive long episode.

Title explained. This is direct from commentary at the end of the film.

'The Beast with two backs' refers to two people fucking. (Credited to Shakesphere, but it was around before then). Since Yivo is fucking everyone, it's the beast with a billion backs.

hmmm so whats up with this:

I wonder if its supposed to be like that or if someone forgot to texture those uvs there? Come to think of it I have no idea what software they use, though they usually use at least some 3d.

meh it looks exactly the way a texture will look if you render it in 3ds max and apply it to an object, or if you paint part of it and leave part exposed.

The movie was okay, I was still a bit disappointed by it though. Something about both of the new movies leaves them falling just short of the mark, for me.

There was more Zap and Kif in this one, which was a plus. But I think if I had to choose between the two, I preferred Benders Big Score.

Cryocat what are you talking about? Looks cell painted to me.

Futurama uses PowerAnimator for the CG. But apart from the intro they use it sparingly.
