failed to install max 2k9.

tried to test the trial of max 2k9, then at the end of installation it gave me an error message, and told me to contact the system admin (hum)
since vista sets me naturally as not the admin.. how do i become admin of my own fucking computer?
max 8 installed fine though.

that´s odd as max2009 should be able to run on Vista unlike max9. Perhaps Vista is still not the real deal even with up to date software

You're up for some more annoyances if you get past that. I have Max2008 on a Vista machine and somehow launching Max switches off Aero. Which means, a laggy CS3 as soon as you spacebar-pan. Makes texturing rather not fun!

... joke aside, that's the one weird 3D desktop interface in Vista. Vista can run in 3 visual modes iirc : Vista with Aero 3D, Vista look and feel but no 3D, and classic XP style.

Sadly enough Max 2008 turns off the Aero 3D interface when it starts, making photoshop unuseable since for some reason CS3 relies on it...

I keep waiting for them to hammer out the kinks with Vista but it looks like they are just calling it "WindowsME" and skipping to the next version. I really have to wonder how long a company can keep fucking up, and still stay on top.

Every day I see charter buses full of MS employees zipping up and down the freeway, custom paint jobs and loaded full of creature comforts. How long can a company churn out crap and still afford to have its own private/public transpiration fleet?

There just seems to be so much excess and so many mistakes...

you might try right clicking the install executable for max and tell it to run as administrator.

i run Max 2009 on vista ultimate 64 bits perfectly, i only miss to have the maxtreme drivers i had for Max 2008.

Those people calling Vista like a transition... like windows me, don't know about Windows 7 LOL. I don't change Vista for XP, harr

the "run this program as administrator" is grayed out.
i tried to become administrator. turns out i am already admin.. yet i still dont have admin privileges?

you could try making a shortcut to the install file and change its properties to run as administrator. i'm logged into my computer as admin as well, but i still have to tell some programs to run as admin. zbrush only runs as admin for instance.

Haven't heard if this was resolved. The .net portion of the 2009 install tripped the defenses on my workstation making it fail. Make sure anti virus/spyware programs are turned off.
