Crazy bump: Parallax Map?

Howdy,

Love crazy bump, but notice in the preview onto an obj you can choose to see it with a parallax map or not... yet where is this map to export? I know its a simple height, so is it using the occlusion as the map or whats going on?

How do I get it out of Crazy bump?

Isn't there a "height map" tab?
Or maybe if you check the options I think there might be a "save height to alpha channel" option. I'm just going off memory though, I don't have the program here.

There's a displacement tab. . . I would imagine that's pretty close?

A displacement map would be what is used for parallax mapping

Hey Thanks,

I always thought a heightmap for parllax was more black and white rather then greyish like a displacement... maybe I can tweak some levels, I'll give it a shot.

Must be close I guess since I checked out the options after Mop mentioned it and you can get the displacement saved to the alpha of the normal map.

Well, the base of a parrallax(no displacement) needs to be gray, obviously, black being lower and white being higher. Theres settings in crazybump to tweak the values, which you can see in realtime.
