Hi all,
New CrazyBump is ready: www.crazybump.com/beta/CrazyBumpSetup.exe
changes include:
-A pretty new renderer (requires dx9)
-View your own model in the preview window (.X format is working. Other formats are forthcoming.)
-Batch processing of normal maps
-Customizable prefix and suffix for saving files. (eg: "Normals from Myimage.tga")
-A button to invert the 3D analysis, in case you picked the wrong one.
-Fixed the noise in the displacement-sharpen slider.
-Fixed a compatibility problem with TIFs

i second FBX and OBJ as well.
I have a question for artists using Collada.
I see the format can contain non-triangulated meshes. Is that something you guys actually use?
Just wondering whether support for triangulated meshes is enough, or whether you'll be wanting to preview on non-triangulated meshes also.

my opinion is that it would be a small inconvenience having to triangulate a model to view it because you might have reason to keep exports in quads

The new "shadows and displacement" updates are cool, nice to see the noise/banding is gone
What you're seeing is a Photoshop bug. Fortunately, there's a patch!
Just install the "unlimited clipboard" patch, from the "goodies" folder on your Photoshop disc.

I've just posted a 4.1 update. It loads Collada and .OBJ models, and it fixes some compatibility bugs.

I didn't install the patch but restarting photoshop fixed the problem. I
I've just posted a NEW beta test - version 4.4
-Drag & drop files to open them.
-Load heightmaps into the normals mixer.
-The mixer can adjust the strength of the original map.
-Save 16-bit displacement maps.
-Save normals and displacement together in an RGBA texture.
-Batch processing actually works now!

CrazyBump is definitely getting close to a release version. (Not to worry - there will be a free trial so nobody will get caught by surprise when the beta test ends.) I owe a debt of gratitude to you guys for testing the software, reporting bugs, and suggesting improvements!
Speaking of which... yet another beta version is up for testing!
Beta 4.5 adds support for .ASE format meshes, and the ability to pan the camera.
