Also have a dig through B1ll's site. Have a look at the face texture and you can see progression of them, which can be helpful.

Vailias tells how to do it in maya down lower. Pretty much any major software can, if you know how to use it.

get rid of the noise overlay - will only hinder your painting. add that as your last step, if you still want it.

he needs much more color variations... redder where the skin is thinner, etc.
