Max and Maya in Vista

  Max 8 & 9 work fine in Vista. If you have unstable gfx card drivers, that's where problems arise.
  I don't use Maya, so I'm not sure about that one.

  maya 7 and 8.5 work fine on VISTA here

  nice to hear they are working. They are not buggy at all? what about maya 8?

  just to add a negative report, a guy at work got maya 8 running after problems but the viewports are glitchy. creating a box turns the viewport white while he moves the mouse for example. I'm guessing its linked to gfx card drivers like vassago suggests

  Just curious, does that mean that 8.0 DOESN'T work for you or that you haven't tried tried it?

  I haven't tried 8 on this machine yet. rooster - I actually had this issue with 7 as soon as I upgraded to Vista. I imagine this was due to the immature nvidia drivers I had.
  
  I haven't spotted anything out of the ordinary with 7/8.5 and there are no noticable performance issues so far.
  
  Also, modo and headus UVlayout work good too.
