Sr. Character Artist
Job Purpose:
Conceptualize and create character models and textures, under the direction of the Lead Artist, which meet the aesthetic, creative and technical quality standards of Lucasarts.

Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate a broad range of superior character modeling abilities including the mastery of high-poly, low-poly modeling and normal mapping techniques.
• Create and apply character textures.
• Ability to contribute effectively within project / technology constraints while creating characters in a variety of artistic styles.
• Demonstrate complete mastery of professional development software tools required for model and texture creation and implementation.
• Take initiative to resolve art pipeline issues by researching, identifying and implementing solutions designed to streamline the art process and enhance productivity within the studio.
• Actively promote and communicate sound solutions to technical and design issues related to modeling.
• Maintain and communicate a strong knowledge of innovative game production technologies and the capabilities / limitations of these technologies as they relate to project goals
• Collaborate effectively with other art leads and participate in art review sessions to achieve an overall high quality of art.
• Act as a mentor and example to less experienced artists, providing them with support, guidance and instruction in areas that provide artistic and professional development.
• Meet project deadlines / milestones, as set by project leads, and the production department.
• Actively participate in team / department meetings.
• Consistently exercises sound judgment in all areas of performance.


Qualifications:
• A portfolio or real demonstrating outstanding 3D modeling / texturing skills. Candidate’s work must clearly demonstrate exceptional artistic ability and solid technical skills.
• Three – five titles and three years of professional experience working as a 3D character modeler in computer gaming or a related field.
• Hardcore gamer
• Additional art skills in the following areas is also preferred:
o fine arts skills, including drawing and painting
o Traditional sculpting
o Lighting
o Strong figure drawing skills that demonstrate a deep understanding of human anatomy and proportion
• Strong technical aptitude related to 3D modeling tools and game engine technologies.
• Complete command of Maya’s modeling and texturing tools.
• Expertise working in Photoshop
• Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of self-direction
• BFA or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
• Must be receptive to art direction and perform well within a collaborative team environment.
• Must be responsive to deadlines and work well under pressure.
• Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
