Blur CG openings just keep getting better and better! Halo RTS on xb360 looks good from the mockup topdown wallpaper.

Anyone played Lord of the rings RTS on xb360? was that good with a controller?

I'm not on the halo wars project but i've played it, and the controller is a non-issue.

It's hardly a big surprise folks, what with the shutting down of the Halo RTS mod (which I had no problem with, IP needs protecting).

With Emsemble on board this should be cracking.

Ugh, my only beef about the video is that for me at least, the sound was off by a good 15 seconds...

Though it looks interesting.
For me, Halo isn't a love or hate thing. I mean, its a game. I play it on occasion, and I dont see why it wouldn't have fans that like the game. I mean, you can really make almost anything (within bounds) and someone will like it.

This my next project after Age of Empires 3. Of course I'm an an animator for it. It's a blast to play so far. We all race down to get a spot when they call a playtest. I guess i'm lucky I'm a Halo fan.

Blur did a great job on the video. I think it will be in HD on the X-box Live Marketplace. Blur actually used the high poly versions of our vehicle models (the ones we use for normal maps). They just textured and added some details.

And one of our concept artists made some pimp wallpapers for the Halo Wars website:

I'm kinda bummed DH won't be making any vag-faced aliens. Maybe he can sneek one in. Congrats to Monster and all the other PCers working on it. Sounds like a sweet game. I can already say it's going to be the best selling RTS ever.

since I actually happen to know a few this about the advanced landwarrior program I can't take halo so called "OMFG FUTURISC SERIOUS" seriously when the tanks move like glaciers!

Without that, it's just another shooter without anything unique about it. I never found it fun; found it too spartan! (hehehe)

What makes Halo good is the total package.

Music (definitely)
Art Quality
Gameplay that doesn't make you throw your controller
and good story and voice acting (racial stereotypes aside)

It's rather lame MS closed the mod for this, though. Seriously, could a mod pose a 'threat' to a real game (a Halo game, people will be drooling over this now matter if it would be bad - not saying it will be, mind you)? And even so, couldn't they have done so sooner? I'd expect the project to be underway for a while now, if an intro movie has already been finished.

Anyway, good luck to any Polycounters working on it. Never been much of a Halo fan, but this might be interesting. Just remember not to change a thing to the Halo universe, or you'll have thousands of angry fans howling for your blood :P
