Help! Vert problems in Unwrap UVW!

Hey guys, In 3ds 8... All of a sudden while uvw unwrapping my model I can no longer select all verts of my model on the mapping. It only allows me select a select few verts. I can't manipulate the other ones, weld them, or anything. I don't know what to do. Please help!

Make sure you're not accidently in 'Target Weld' mode. Otherwise, press spacebar to make sure you dont have selection lock on.

UVW unwrapping always does weird stuff to me like that too, I always just restart Max and that fixes it for me

Check to see if the verts are frozen (unfreeze all), and check the snap toggle (toggle it on and off in the uv window). Are you using SP3?

Thanks for all the advice, I just tried all of that. No luck! =( I can also select those verts outside of the UVW window but I can't do anything with them in the map. Also, I don't have SP3.

Did you check the W coord values? Maybe try forcing all W's to 0.

Yeah, do what Eric suggested. That also helps if your softselection in the edit uvs window doesn't work like expected.

When you say to force them to zero do you mean select them all in the UV Map and setting them to zero. If so I tried like you asked, no luck!

Is this what you did...?

In the Edit UVWs window, find the tiny dropdown that says UV on it, set it to UW or VW, select all verts, right-click on the arrows to the right of the W spinner (sets W to 0 instantly, you should see the verts form a solid line across the bottom of the UW square).

Might not fix your problem though.

Cool.

W is always added by Max, so it often gets accidental insane values, without you being aware of it. W can be helpful though if you're dealing with 3D textures, good to have it there when you need it.
