A problem in Alias Maya.

My problem is that whenever I add a texture to an object, the texture does not appear, merely changing to a random colour, unrelated to the texture.

This is a problem when putting an image onto a plane, so that i can make the outline and that around it, because the object will just change to a seperate colour.

I know that the texture does work because it shows up in renders.

oh, it does work... but the image is a very bad quality of the original version - but in renders it is the HQ version.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Maya's viewport will automatically downsample textures if your graphics card can't handle displaying everything realtime. Maybe you have a very large number of hi-res textures in use? Sometimes you can force a (slightly) higher display resolution by looking at your material's attributes and opening Hardware Texturing, and telling it to use Highest resolution. 'course that will only go up to 256* - far as I know?

Ah, it was set on its lowest possible setting for some reason, it's now at 256*256 and running smoothly. Thanks Noritsune
