I just don't get it. Can you explain how this is funny? I'm not offended, I just don't understand where the humor is if I'm supposed to be laughing.

Or maybe this is a clever cartoon like Garfield?

It's pretty much a commentery on the fact that jesus' method of "saving" the world was by letting himself be crucified. At least that's what I took of it. And now the fact that I had to explain it, makes it lose some of its charm. Oh well.

It's one of the recurring strip themes in Sinfest, he takes random characters and lets them go through a superhero-like preparation to begin with their completely normal activity.

There's also a lot of political strips... Overall the comic is pretty critical of most topics that are taken serious these days, parodying religion, politics, the war on terror and political correctness, among others.
