i am just wondering what is the mostly used 3d application for game developing. among XSI, Maya, lightwave and 3d studio max which is the mostly used application for game developing?

The mostly used application is 3DS Crax

fyi, the "most used" doesn't always mean the "best for you". it's only what studios have relied on to maintain their pipeline.

More like a religious war.

3DS Max is probably the most widely used game making tool. Autodesk has been positioning it for that use for some time.

Maya, also owned by Autodesk, would be second.

Everyone else runs at the back of the pack in the race.

Respinning the question ... pros ... what is the main 3D tool in your studio?

It's been 3ds/Max for me at most of my jobs, but a decent sized minority of studios definately use Maya. I've been noticing a trend in the last couple of years where more employers want artists who are good in any major 3d app, and can work with whatever software they prefer.

Here at Terminal Reality it's Max.

though i been semi-promised i could use modo if i purchased it. However wondering if its worth it considering in-house tools and such (not getting the actual program but using it here at work)

XSI at Digital Extremes now. I'm sure there are still some die hard Max and LW guys still modeling here with those apps, and some of us use even more specialized modelers like Zbrush, Silo or Modo, but the pipeline has pretty much shifted over to XSI.
