this is a funny story and steve jobs is my hero. he sold pixar for 7 BILLON yeah i said billion dollars.. AND he became the largest shareholder of disney, and that makes him kind of own disney, who owns pixar, so steve jobs sold pixar to himself and got 7 Billion out of the deal.

i wonder if george lucas is pissed he sold pixar to Jobs

Pixar is not worth 7 billion. Unless they shut it down and make people write non-competitive agreements.
Think EA killing OSI and Bullfrog.
Only thing is that Disney still would get blasted to hell and back (multiple times) by DreamWorks.

I was thinking that if everyone at Pixar quit, the business would be worth maybe 10 million dollars. Disney already owned all the IP from the previous movies, so what were they buying really? The Pixar name? A bunch of computers, ir the building? I suppose Pixar has some cash on hand, but really 7 BILLION! That is crazy. Mad respect for Jobs, still sticking it to the man after all these years.

i think the commentary on the provided link is quite apt--with Jobs as a big shareholder, I don't think you have to worry about Pixar taking on Disney's negative qualities, but Disney shaping up to Pixar's higher quality standards. Pixar wouldn't have agreed to this deal if it wasn't in their best interest, and you better believe Disney is going to want to keep their sacred cow healthy. And boy would Disney be in trouble without the vital strength of Pixar.

It's funny how people are celebrating a guy who was already a billionaire and now he's just made 7 billion more, haha. Anyway I wonder what this deal does to all of the CG films Disney had in house?

Since Pixar is owned by the Mouse House now, I don't think their are going to touch their creative minds. Disney will probably stick with the distribution and marketing and let Pixar make great films. Unfortunately, I hope Pixar doesn't turn into the slave shop that I hear ILM is like
