Funny, I was at Barns and Nobles ( thats a big bookstore chain Rick, excuse me if you knew) the other day, theres a woman serving and as often happens she had to comment on my accent..
'oh you must get this all the time but I just love your accent'...
..I reply that 'Well it was real enjoyable ( i modify my speech patterns here so people grasp what im saying without the need for me to repeat myself ) the first couple of weeks but at this time of year, I'd prefer to be hearing a few more accents like my own rather than have people comment on the uniqueness of mine'.
Bah.. I'm downloading everything I can from Scotland or the BBC atm just to see some familiar scenery and hear some accents other than southern.

oh and btw, someone pointed me to a link of the Scottish TV game review proggie, Video Gaiden... fucking class like, it was like the antidote to 2 years of suffering the utter fucking bollocks that is G4 TV.
I work so hard to adapt to the yank culture on a local level, doubt that as much as most here that consider me a cantankerous cynical old prick will, I really do.
I work hard enough at this that sometimes I forget the down to earth, call it as you see it with a non diminshing assumption alternative I left behind so Video Gaiden really perked me up

Ror - get yerself a bunch of Still Game DVDs - I think they are on series 4 now. As for Video Gaiden, it is fantastic, and nice to see a TV programme that talks to you bout games in way you understand, withouth trying to be "street" or corny with photogenic presenters. Naw, you get 2 scottish folk telling you its fucking gureat or a bag o shite.
