The turn left and turn right keys

I'm playing some games lately that i'm finding don't have the turn left/right key options. Does anyone else find this as being a bad move for games?

In my quake based games I use the turn left/right AND strafe left/right WITH my mouse movement. I have always found it gives me a great amount of control in 3D space. It can help you turn faster when needed and can have you running circles around opponents.

Does anyone know if Quake 4 still has the turn left/right? And why other games do not....

so far i've only seen serious sam 2 strip this bind

Swim up/swim down has been phased out pretty much for redunancy when you can combine both functions with jump/crouch

I am not following. Moving your mouse left and right turns you in those directions. Having keys that does the same thing seems redundant. I set my mouse sensitivity pretty high, and can instantly be facing backward, left, right, etc.

haha yeah, amazingly I remember using the keyboard for quake 2 for some reason. I somehow could nail people with a railshot every time using only the keyboard and the turn keys...

I think they are just there for the possibility that some gamers may just not use a mouse. Hard to see why they wouldnt... but yeah.

I do the same as Ryno - set the sensitivity high, means you can twitch and spin. I haven't used the "turn left/turn right" keys since Doom.
