scanlines appearing in photoshop??

I went to work on a texture on my new laptop and I noticed odd lines appearing in a layer when I reduced it's opacity below 50%

the left is 49% and the right is 50%
what the heck is making this happen!?

What version of Photoshop are you running? And what video card & drivers?

Photoshop 7 and a Mobility Radeon X600, unfortunately HP doesn't list downloadable drivers for my video card and I can't get them from ATI's website

raeon igp or gpt or gti SOMETHING LIKE THAT agh cant remember, if so its the same as my laptop and i also have weird errors on half life 2 ( i know it doesnt have anything to do , but i guess its curious )

try fixing the opengl options and direct3d, those caused some wird stuff on letter...maybe theyr conflicting with PS

if you still cant fix it try going to the photoshop exe properties and change it to windows 95 compatibility. Unfortunately if that does fix it I dont think you can use up and down arrows anymore to change layer blending mode when its selected.

you da man rooster! 95 compatibility did it, that is totally weird since it runs fine on my desktop computer which is running XP as well. If it works, that's all I care about!

i had this same problem with multiply layers and reinstalling solved the problem.
