I was speaking hypothetically, i am working on a few models, but i am wondering "when i finish how will i put them in games such as SW:KOTOR 2, or UT 2004?
It isn't as simple as you may think to answer that question. Gamespy has a run of websites that are "planets". You might want to check the according planet (re: website) for a specific game you may have had in mind to put your models into. For example, if you wanted to drop them in to Quake you'd check out planetQUAKE.com
Each game is different some are impossible to import 3rd party models into. If anyone here knows we more than likely wrote a tutorial for it and it is in our tutorial section. The most "3rd party user friendly" game I can think of is UT. Epic even put out a bunch of video tutorials on the DVD version. The videos help people like yourself get started. I think they are up on fileplanet/com also.
Really, the question you aks is a broad one, and since it isn't for a specific game, it's tough to answer. Mostly because they all have different steps and hoops you have to jump thru. Normally there is some kind of rig or skeleton and animations you need to attach your mesh to. Then some kind of voodoo export plugin that makes no sense but works. Sometimes there is a middle ware application that must be used before the model is game ready. It's rarely as easy as make model, save model, play with model.
