i have seen the projectors that project in air.. but this lets you interface in 3d in mid air!!! i bet this will be nintendos next controller!!

yeah i seen that awhile back.. but its still just a 2d screen with a 3d pen input.. the pioneer display is actually 3d object projected into 3d space and can be interacted with in the 3d space, with any object..not just a special pen.. like your finger or your pee pee.. seems a little different.
The thing I liked about the MIT idea is that you can move the display to any angle around the 3D model. Coupled with a wireless display, you could interact with a 3D world from any angle in the real world. Then take it a step further with stereoscopic glasses.

that was the first one i think.. the research started around 1996.. i find this stuff really amazing.. i cant wait to model with real 3d objects in 3d space..
