Help, the fingers wont stop shaking, the day takes too long to start, the cold sweat every time I watch the telly. What is there to do, there is a gaping hole in my life now star trek is out of it. Is there anything that can replace it, some kind of temporty substitute? Battle star galactica and the 4400 lasted a while, but is there anything that comes near to filling the hole?

I'm going through a similar withdrawl though with Mt. Dew (any soda even). The headaches are gone now, but I'm so freakin tired. Probably wasn't a good idea to do this in the middle of a crunch. :S

I see Ron D. Moore - ex-author of TNG and First Contact is penning Galactica. I'm liking it, aside from the ecumenical book thumping but hopefully they'll sidestep that for awhile since the religious woman stood on a landmine.. heh. Unfortunately the network's target audience explains management's enforced adherence to censorship / standards guidelines. Grab the podcasts, cue them up and watch with Ron's commentary?

Otherwise, Firefly. .. the Serenity film should be out in a couple of weeks.

I looked up Deadwood from Ror's comments a few weeks back.. it's fuckin' great. (thanks for mentioning it.) Actually, I've been wondering 'where to next?' as well and so far I've landed on reading Ulysses S. Grant's memoirs (found all over the net) which was written at the same time as Deadwood occurs, containing info on the political climate (property rights, annexation, etc which kicked off the civil war) and is one of the best books about the conduct of warfare against your own people.

Maybe get Farscape on DVD, it is kind of funny and has some novel ideas.
But I have never been a big StarTrek fan, so I guess my oppinion might not be worth much to a Startrek addict

Movies
Sci-Fi Channel or shows (I miss star trek too, big fan)
Cartoons (Futurama, Simpsons, Family Guy)
Occasional comedy (Ali-G show, Chappelles show)
Discovery Channels (sciency stuff)

farscape, stargate, babylon 5, twin peaks, sopranos, deadwood, the prisoner ... they are all good series.
on the cartoon stakes, simposons, family guy, futurama, south park.

If you can work your way through, buying/ downloading and then watching all that little lot, you clearly dont have time to work for a living heh

Heh, I thought you were working in the industry tpe? So that tv-lavishing wouldn't be a problem. Remember you've got no time at all for anything but sleep (if you're lucky), eat (junk food) and work (frenzied)!

Only joking! Perhaps getting as many boxed sets of the series on dvd and let them roll until you know every scene, every line and so on. Other than that try 24, I know it's a totally different genre but it's entertaining.

Tim ol' bean, Trekker's withdraw, eh? Someone did mention SG1/Stargate. They have a newer cast now with 2 of my favs from Farscape. Do you have the Sci-Fi channel over there?
There are some good programs starting this season very soon now. A good series called "Firefly" is coming back via SciFi channel....also a movie of the same cast I think, called "Serenity".

FarScape was the best. Don't mention Stargate around me though =\ The most appauling sci fi I've seen. Damn shame that 2 Farscape cast went over to it.

). too bad there was only 2 seasons before it was cancelled. though they might be bring it back for new season on the WB... but i doubt it will be the same.

Thanks all, i not sure about the masturbation, it messes up the remote, but i apreciate the sentiment... Good to get some alternatives to the ol brown suggar, pilled up with DVDs now and going through them whenever the shakes hit, thats the problem with downloads, everything is 4 series ahead of the episode over here, amazon is a saviour, farscape looks promising tho, lots of nice green makeup, reminds me of the headdy days of spock and m'coy. stargate is too much like popers, you think its going to be great, then as soon as the intro is over its all down hill

. Looking out for serenity and firefly, no sci fi channel here afaik, but all good sugestions. Got a whole week of holls to plow through them, who needs exercise, its just a cold, no problem, i can handle it.

not sure what you ar quiting, but things to past the time. netflix is your friend and lover,

i've been queeing up a ton of series on it and watching them, suprisingly and against my better judgement i've watched all of "Angel" and about halfway thru "Buffy" and am actualy enjoying them, completely goofy fluff, but a few neat ideas,

but yeah netflix, pretty much you just think of a series and get it from there,

watching firefly now at work, and really enjoying it,

other things to waste time, since we started working on warhammer online, a group of folks at work have started playing the table top game, and i've found painting the minitures is a lot of fun, and also time consuming, maybe somethign like that will help
