I think I got the urged to draw this after talking about how there werent any east Asians in the original star wars, and the closest they came to having them were the rebel fish head captains who had the "Asian accents". maybe there werent any Asians in that universe?
(im not depicting fishheads as eastasians :P)

The face from the sideview has problems. It looks like you modeled a tumor coming out of his cheek rather than a pronounced cheekbone like your concept sketch has.
Secondly, at the arm joint, it might be better for deformation if you keep the edge loops going all the way around the joint.
Lastly, it looks like you modeled the little indentations in the fish fin at the bottom. Have you considered just using an alpha map?
Anyways, its looking pretty cool. You dont see too many fish people with an actual fin on the end too often. The spiky armour looks pretty awesome as well. Keep on working on it.
One other thing, that concept sketch rocks
im not sure aboutthe tumor, since it is a fish headed merman
as for the the finns im gona try to normal map it rather then use stenciling, that is, if i get to figure out how normal maps work
Looks nice, K. That face looks scary. Almost like my cat.
Nice to see some new stuff from ya.
i was thinking my character was somewhat corny below the waist, inspired by ThE_BirD's art http://sixfatninjas.com/Warzecha/Characters/Prawntasia.jpg
i fixed a lobsterish lower half, this is what i came up with
best part of creating a convincing monster, is for it to look like it could be real. If you look at Lobster's thier front half is relatively small and curves upward. Try to find a center of gravity for him and build the extremities around that.
I liked the first one though, works quite well.
