heh did any of you guys get this in your email? i've never heard of another software co. doing someting like this. talk about cut-throat marketing. i love it.

what ever, i still blab on about how xsi is so much damn better than other stuff, so they can go sleeze-style for all i care.

I wouldn't say that's sleazy, it's just clever and aggressive marketing. Most pizza places and video rental places accept competitor's coupons; this seems pretty similar to me, but just on a much larger scale.

They're only trying to help the poor guys. It's a great deal. This way Max users are given a choice, instead of being stuck with the software they paid for. LET THE FLAMES BEGIN!

Interesting its only advertised as a switch from Max5 or Max6 and nothing offered to switch from Max7...

Those are the costs to upgrade from 5 and 6 to 7. The XSI guy at GDC tried to sway me, but insted all that happened was we went tit for tat max feature vs XSI feature. In the end max had almost every feature that he could think of but were easier to get at. There were a few unwrapping things that seemed useless to me but for each one of those max had some other feature that XSI didnt that i do use.

When Maya first began their big push into the games industry they did something similiar. Additionally I believe that if you still call up a retailer you can get a better price for either Max or Maya if you inquire about the opposite one (if you want to buy Max ask about Maya and vice-versa).

Capcom's use of XSI is completely immaterial to the fact that Leon is a sexy lad of the sexiest persuasion. when his dark eyes peer through his gorgeous hair at me on my television screen, i can only describe my state as 'sexually disoriented'. *swoon*

It goes both ways. My roomate won a copy of Lightwave at GDC a couple years back in one of the Nvidia art competitions. After he got the copy we went over to the discreet booth and they let him trade it for a copy of 3dsmax, which made him quite happy

Hell,some McDonalds don't even accept coupons from a different city... (or sometimes even a different shop in the same town
