im going to begin creating a charecter for unreal2004 ive done this alittle at a friends house. but i want to know if thiers anytihing to setup with maya or u paint or anything before i start. please help me out thx.
I was thinking the same. A little more clarification of your question might be necessary.
If you do a little Google searching I'm sure you can find some useful tutorials for Maya. http://udn.epicgames.com is a good place to look too, I think.

Seriously though there's not much set up needed. Whargoul has a great script that will actually create whatever base bones you need in Maya. I would use that and model around the bones so it deforms correctly. Of course that is if you are using the base UT skeletons.
ive searched my pc and the internet and i need to get actorX for maya into the plug-ins directory. But i cant seem to find the file. could you plz tell me how to find it thnx. its (C:\Program Files\AliasWavefront\Maya5.0\bin\plug-ins) do i need to start the program maya to put actorX in? You won't be needing that until you've completed your model, unwrapped it, and bound it to a skeleton.
