Resident Evil 4...... garsh darnit!

I've been playing it for a while.

Re4 is such a badass game.
Its got a nice pace
Amazing texture work (the best usage of photoref I've seen)
Lighting
animation
characters
Sound
... its all very very well done.

I got to an enemy that actually freaked me out pretty good
I "HATE" these things. Its been a while since I've been bothered by a foe.

Ohh and even though there are cutscenes that "do things for you" I never really felt like I was taken out of the game. I totally love the << Shake enemy off>> by rotating the joystick franticly.. or tapping L and R to dodge something.

Anyone else playin this game?

I gotta agree..this game f'ckin ROCKS...Capcom definately know their shit...I've just completed the game twice now and I am about to play again for 3rd time on on professional mode...but as for the artwork, animation/mo-cap audio etc....it is the best I have ever seen and experienced..you are right swampbug the photo references are definately put to good use, and here's a bit of info if you are not aware?...but did you know that Leon was actually modelled from a real life person? for eg. Max Payne...Capcom have in no doubt found the key to what can really make players scared, panic and definately make you jump out of their seat..every single time I loaded up this game I was always (literally) playing on the edge of my seat..I hope if they start development on a new Resident Evil title that they expand on the design on this one for maybe Next-Gen platforms..btw Mit Gas....Krauser kick'd ass...He is a fantastically characterised enemy not only from the scenario you mentioned but the boss fight also and cut-scenes...

yea this game kicks ass. I'm on my third play through after having beaten the mercenaries and getting the handcannon. That thing is sick, kills bosses in 1 or 2 hits.
Capcom really hit the nail on the head with this one, the story is so-so compared to past resident evil games (2 was my favorite as far as that goes) but the gameplay just leaves the others behind in the dust. I dont think i've had this much fun playing a game over and over since ninja gaiden, easily one of my top 5. It's the gamecube's half life 2 imo.

Are any of your guys RE4 cases almost impossible to get the game disks out of? I was stumped when i tried to take the first disk out. I dont read instructions on how to remove game disks because it should be standard.

I seriously thought i was gona break the disk if I really forced it out. So I took pliers and bent the stupid tabs and carefull wiggled the game out.

WTF !!!!!!!! Is it child locked of something? I guess it works, but if your kid was trying to get the game out... the little tyke would probably snap the disk.

When i took the 2nd disk out I pressed inside the hole with needlenose pliers then it popped the disk out.

So do that if you're ever stuck. I thought my thumb would have worked fine but no.

LOL...yeah I found that too...not good...not good at all when totally geared up to play the game after finishing a days work in studio...and especially at lunch when I can see one of the game testers playing the game (currently he's unlocked all the characters in Mercenaries but he's going for the hand cannon) at lunch...heh...

They have a very sweet behind the game clip on gametrailers.com for RE4. I'm stoked to get it, especially to finally play an RE game where you don't swivel like a tank.

In an article about the PS2 port they said the GC version uses 10k (!) polies for Leon and 5k for the villagers. Nice, eh?

Seriously folks, if you haven't gone out and bought this game yet, go do yourself a favor, and treat yourself to one of the best games ever.
