Not lothar of the hill people.
I'm not positive but it seems in order to be a real modeller one must build a barbarian or brute type of character.
Since my models so far have been skinny weenies, I've decided to tackle my requisite barbarian.

Here's the concept
Lothar the Pretty, aged barbarian.

Just fishing for comment/ideas.

I just watched the (terribly bad) 'League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' on DVD and I'm getting Hyde flashbacks with those long arms and the hunched look. I like the disproportionally large feet, and can imagine this guy thumping along swinging those limbs. It also occured to me that he would be pretty well 'planted' and take some knocking down. Nice concept.

Believe it or not Adam, more than one person can have the same name!!!
Pretty good start, but to be a proper barbarian I think he needs more fur clothing ... everyone knows barbarians live in cold conditions and hunt Yaks, or something.
I am also getting an LXG Mr. Hyde vibe off him, not necessarily a bad thing (although the film sucked!).
Possibly his legs are too long... he seems to have no pelvis.
Also I think a larger, more mobile mouth for superior battle-cries would be good.

Thanks for the input guys (excepting you name hounders mad.gif).
I've done a quick overlay of the concept to reflect your ideas. The tooth/claw will stay large and hang about the neck.
I've put quit a bit of focus on the feet and arms so I'm purposely leaving those naked.
I really like the concept of a big gob so I'll come back in a bit with a head shot to reflect that change.

Lothar the Pulchritudinous, not quite so naked...

    Still willing to make adjustments!

Oh yeah, about the long legs and pelvis: I've fixed those problems in my ortho drawings so please disregard from now on. Thanks MoP.

Good illustration. I don't particularily like his loin in the front, too tiny - even for someone of his size. Otherwise, good character.

    Hmmm
Yeah, I think I agree. It seems a little short and girly.
All these changes warrant a new draft. Once I've found a suitable ugly old man reference; I'll whip one up.

ahem: VERY light humour. . .

Ahhh. . . a wonderfully lazy three day birthday weekend. I am now completely refreshed and ready to buckle down.
I decided to go away from the cartoony style of the original concept. My first model (Retail Zombie) was a cartoony freak and I don't think another in the same style would properly exhibit my skill. As it stands the arms, hands and other extraneous parts are unfinished. Also, for anyone paying attention, I've totally ripped this model from Poop's VTMs. I know he said this is exactly what irked him about doing tutorials, but this is only my third model and I haven't really developed a style of my own yet.
    Okay... enough rambling and excuses.

Sorry for nullifying previous help. I hope you all can appreciate my change in creative direction.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
(I promise I'll stick to it now!)
