What do you guys make of it? Is it totally fine to you, or is it annoying starting up Steam to fire up X software? I have a few on there, I use Designer there and it's generally okay for me. I don't really like it, but there's some fun side effects like it tracking your hours in the software, imagine if I had those stats on Maya or ZBrush...

Personally I hate steam for it's added step to simply launch an app, GoG makes things much simpler but I don't know if they use to sell softwares too ; but the good thing with steam (or GoG if they appear to go that way too) is that licenses are perpetual. That's a huge plus nowadays

Steam is am annoying  extra step  yet  I bought a few  software  there I wouldn't even think about probably  like  some pretty old versions  of Modo  and  Mari  and  also an absolute jewel:   Reality capture  , which once was a subscription  based on Steam  but   before they were bought out  by Ubisoft  they granted unlimited , unrestricted by any conditions  full  permanent license  to their Steam subscribers .     So thanks  Steam to be.    And that older version is simpler to use  and better in general than current one. On my GPU at least.

I hate extra steps and I hate bloat that takes up space on my PC. I don't want to have to be logged into Steam in order to use Maya or something.
