Project: Wormheart: Tale of the Outsiders

Engine: Godot 3D

Compensation: Royalties during prototype and then paid roles after funding!

Team Size: 23 (and counting*)

My Role: Lead Artist / Creative Director


Hello, We’re expanding our team for the prototype phase of our high-dark‑fantasy CRPG Wormheart: Tale of the Outsiders.

This is a royalties/post‑compensation arrangement during prototype development. Once funding is secured, these roles convert to paid positions.

Founding members receive lifetime revenue share.



We are currently looking for:

PROGRAMMING ROLES (Godot)

Graphics / VFX Programmer

Responsibilities:

– Implement shaders, spell effects, particles, and lighting logic

– Build visual systems for Spellmancy and environmental FX

– Collaborate closely with art direction and gameplay systems

UI / Tools Programmer

Responsibilities:

– Implement UI systems (inventory, dialogue, menus)

– Build small tools and helpers for the team

– Support the gameplay/systems programmer



2D ART ROLES

Environment / Location / Set Artist

Responsibilities:

– Create atmospheric 2D environment concepts, mood pieces, and location illustrations

– Support level design with visual direction for dungeons, regions, and key areas

– Produce artwork that matches a high‑dark‑fantasy CRPG tone

– Work closely with 3D artists to ensure visual consistency

Spell/Magic/Spellmancy Concept Artist

Responsibilities:

– Design spell visuals, magical effects, glyphs and runes

– Create concept sheets for magics

– Work with programmers and FX animators to translate designs into gameplay

– Maintain stylistic cohesion across the game’s magic system

Map & Area Designer

Responsibilities:

– Create region maps and  dungeon layouts

– Support encounter flow, navigation clarity, and world readability

– Produce map art consistent with the game’s tone

– Collaborate with writers 2D and 3D environmental artists to visualise maps of locations

Logo/UI Designer

Responsibilities:

– Design the main game logo and related elements

– Help create our worlds iconography

– Work with art direction to establish a cohesive visual identity

– Provide assets suitable for UI and in‑game use



3D ART & ANIMATION ROLES

3D Character Modeler

Responsibilities:

– Model character/NPCs in our high dark fantasy style

– Create clean topology suitable for animation and rigging​

– Produce UVs and basic textures for in‑engine readability

– Deliver models in stages (blockout, sculpt, retopo, texture)

– Collaborate with animators and art direction to maintain consistency across the cast

Character / Enemy Animator

Responsibilities:

– Animate humanoid and creature rigs for combat, locomotion, and interactions

– Work with riggers and 3D artists to ensure compatibility

– Ability to animate expressive silhouettes and readable poses

Talking‑Head Animator

Responsibilities:

– Create expressive talking‑head animations for dialogue scenes

– Facial rigs, lip‑sync, and subtle performance animation

– Work with writers and VAs to match tone and delivery

FX Animator

Responsibilities:

– Animate stylised spell effects, impacts, bursts, and environmental FX

– Work with VFX programmer and art direction to maintain consistency

– Experience with timing, anticipation, and stylised motion

Rigger

Responsibilities:

– Rig humanoid and creature models for animation

– Create clean, animator‑friendly skeletons and controls

– Work with animators to ensure deformation quality and usability



About the Project

Wormheart: Tale of the Outsiders is a dark‑fantasy CRPG inspired by Baldur’s Gate, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale, and early BioWare/Black Isle titles.

The world is set on Di‑enw, a high‑dark fantasy realm shaped by the Mother Crystal and populated by Humans, Elves, and Beastfolk.

We are building a 5–6 level narrative dungeon prototype featuring:

– "character creation"

– companions

– dialogue and branching choices

– combat and levelling

– loot and core systems


The prototype will be used to secure funding for full production.

Our team includes 2D artists, 3D artists, writers, musicians/SFX artists, voice actors, and a systems programmer. We maintain clear documentation, pipelines, and direction.

Current Progress (Proof of Work)

We have completed:

– a majority character sheets

–  near complete narrative outlines

– concept art and turnarounds for most of the character and enemy roster

– some early 3D models

– prototype structure and design documentation

– initial baseline gameplay systems in Godot


upon request, consideration or curiosity we can provide a welcome package with the basics of our project, it hold information about the world, project and how the team works, it hold the current majority of what we can currently share until more substantial progress has been made!

We can provide any and all kinds art direction sheets, turnarounds, and documentation upon joining.
