I think it would help to refine an employment goal, like where exactly would you like to be working as an artist? Then, closely examine their work, and adjust your art to match theirs as closely as possible. Modeling, texturing, lighting, presentation. This will give you clear goals to work towards.
Instagram isn't a good place for a work portfolio, unfortunately. It requires a login after viewing a couple pieces. And isn't great for providing additional info, more shots, etc. Also it mostly enforces a square layout. Better to choose something like Artstation.
