[WIP] Weapon Art - MP7A1

alexus_sanchez
triangle
Simple renders for my current weapon art project used for feedback. It is the classic MP7 submachine gun (with additional attachments) seen in many games. I plan to get feedback on the texturing and apply it before creating my ideal beauty renders and posting the results.

Not bad quite plausible, your 'soldier proof' treatment is what I'd expect to see.
    Aluminium, Stainless Steel
    Ok interesting thanks.

As an aside, recall part of my old unit's principal roles was supporting SF activities and on one occasion after an intense peacetime exercise back in the 1980s. This particular tier-1 operator ran a ad hoc weapon's class for us recon grunts, (2CAV Assault Troopers) I guess some kind of post op reward which if memory serves he stripped an HK MP5, hence prompted my original comment because the suppressor had a charcoal-gray phosphated finish, indistinct from that of the weapon.

Oh wow, so you were a policeman/soldier back in the day? Then my texture wear being plausible means alot, thanks!

As for the suppressor, I looked it up again and the material was only described as steel if that makes any difference. I used these references specifically too, it was really fun to work on!

Served 7yrs 1983 - 1990, 2nd Cavalry Regiment (Reconnasance), 1st Brigade (Heavy Mechanised), Australian Army.

Been out a fair while, so my military ordnance knowledge might be showing it's age but anyhow just something to keep in mind. Is that these types of CQB weapons are typically employed for stealth and speed at effective close range 25 - 30 meters. Now whether a suppressor is manufactured from either ferrous or non ferrous metals, may IMO be irrelevant because as long a given tool performs as expected...

It's all that counts at the end of the day.

That's really cool experience. Just got feedback and learned that the coating on all my metal should not have metalness applied to it, so it "looks incorrect" or non-realistic as it is. I'll keep updating this weapon and post the results.

Some more preliminary renders, still haven't hade the time to apply the feedback I've gotten since I applied to the Rookie Awards with these but from now on I will go back to working on the model and textures again before rendering more.

The project is nearing its end. I finally found the time to apply some more feedback and proceeded to refine my renders. I plan to add hands and pose them with the weapon to fully catch that "FPS" feel.

Nice work on the textures! I personally am not a big fan of visible HDRI backgrounds in the renders, I think it is a bit distracting (especially the 2nd shot with the graffiti on the walls).
Otherwise really good renders and lighting!  :)
  • alexus_sanchez
I can see that, it can be distracting I guess depending on what is seen in the back but I do love a good blurry background done right. Thanks for the nice words!
