I find it's best to put a wip side-by-side with the ref, makes it easier to judge similarities/differences. And the closer you can get your 3d camera's FOV and angle to the ref, the better.
Yes, that's a very good idea. I did that but It just seems to me that everything is normal, I just want to hear the opinions of people who are seeing this for the first time.
Some parts could be thicker, some angles could use adjustment. It helps to choose 1 point on the model, then flick your eyes back and forth between the two images.
